PetaMem Language Server supports over 7600 Languages
With the ongoing development of proven technologies for data aquisition
from multilingual corpora, the language support of the PetaMem Language
Server (PMLS) got extended in accordance with ISO639-3. With this, an
infrastructure is available, which allows to support over 7600 languages
and to manage an arbitrary number of lexica in these languages.
This step became necessary because the available textual data
and the covered languages within now well exceeded the old ISO639-1
As of now, the PMLS software suite contains lexica in more than 533
languages - more than any other software available on the market. There
are no constraints to form language pairs and thus with the support
of over 25000 language pairs PetaMem can once again - by large margin -
claim technological leadership in the field of human language technology.
"This is a big step for PetaMem, both in technological as well as commercial
terms. This unique feature makes our systems reference and 1st choice for
all language research institutes worldwide. Furthermore, we fixed a long-term
deficit in the area of asiatic languages.", says Richard Jelinek, managing
director of PetaMem GmbH.
