PMSE New Features Demonstration on TSD 2014 in Brno

Prague/Fuerth, 2014-08-19

We are pleased to announce to the public that PetaMem will be promoting its PetaMem Scripting Environment (PMSE) with new features on the TSD 2014 - 17th International Conference on Text, Speech and Dialogue in Brno on 8th to 12th September 2014, which is organized by Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University in Brno and Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The main topics of this conference within the field of natural language processing are: corpora, texts and transcription, speech analysis, recognition and synthesis, their intertwining within NL dialogue systems.

We will be presenting new features like conversion between various tagging systems (Penn Treebank, CLAWS5 and others). This is implemented with a generic converter-core engine which performs the evaluation of a set of micro-code rules. This allows for some really interesting stuff and leverages corpora annotation to the next level. Would like to convert some BNC-formatted data to Penn Treebank? No problem with PMSE!

Our PMSE Demo Presentation will be held on 9th September through Demo session by PetaMem Managing director, Mr. Richard Jelínek and company software developer Mr. Jiří Mácha. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PetaMem Scripting Environment (PMSE) is a software suite that allows you to perform virtually any task related to corpus linguistics. PMSE has been designed to offer a comprehensive toolchain to provide the user with a very generic way of working with text corpora - starting with the acquisition of data, any modification (like format conversion), thorough statistical analysis and data visualization.

PMSE is a generic toolset and middleware for processing corpora and performing all standard - and even non-standard - statistical processing tasks. Focus has been laid on generic, comprehensive and versatile functionality to enable PMSE to act as a drop-in replacement for the vast plethora of similar tools in use by universities and research organizations today. These tools are often ad-hoc, self-made, incompatible and restricted.

PMSE was designed from scratch to cover many topics missing in the tools available today. Data interchange, N-Gram generic computations (e.g. MI-Score between 5-grams) and more than 20 distinct distance measures to name a few.

PMSE licensing will allow its use institution-wide for a very modest licensing fee without the hassle of keeping numbers of concurrent or named users in mind and comes also with a free update service.
